Friends I would like to discuss about one the ramarkable works of English literature, ' THE PILGRIMS PROGRESS ' by BUNYAN. This book is considered as next to
' BIBLE ' holy scripture of christian people. What makes this book this much intersting is not perhaps the theme i.e. related to religion but the way in which the auther
has dealt is of much interst. This book can be read by young reader as a book dealing with adventurous story while for the mature reader it has got some hidden meaning
also which can be understood only if we peep in to the deerer layer of the book. The book is baisicaly written in an allegorical form having the characters personified in
absract ideas. The main theme is obivious, man quest for Celecstial City leaving behind everythings that are physical and give pain to the human soul.

  1. Hi,
yes 'THE PILGRIM'S PROGRESS' is considered as next to 'BIBLE'.Whatever u hv written here is true. The theme of the book is not only related to religion but also one's journey to get salvation. You r right that 4 young reader it's a matter of adventures but 4 mature readers it's something beyond that, beyond physical world. We have to read between the lines to get the real idea which is indicated by BUNYAN.

  2. You are right my friend "THE PILGRIM'S PROGRESS" deals with moral lesson it gives reading charm when we read it, but there is an allegorical meaning behind whole story as well as its all characters also. And the theme is "SPIRITUAL JOURNEY"or ""SOUL SALVATION"

  3. Hello....
Above is well penned by You. You have stated that the work is an allegorical and that is proved by the names of characters and of places. But what I have gained from this that is to be ready and to be full of zeal for any kind of work and here Celestial City that is for me the hill of the success.

  4. It is well written Sanjaybhai. Megha had already wrote that this book has proved its allegorical charateristics. From my point of view Celestial City means our own Destination. Here I mean to say whatever we wanna get when we get it then it's Celestial City for us. So it does not mean that we should take it only as a spiritual matter but we should read the meaning written between the lines which Bunyan hasn't written.
